Luke 11:9 So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
Jesus makes it very clear that those who keep on asking, seeking, and knocking will receive! It is clear from the three statements in the above verse:
1. ‘It will be given to you!‘
2. ‘You will find!‘
3. ‘It will be opened to you.’
These three statements are all in the future tense. The implication is that between the asking, seeking and knocking there may well be a period of time! The best name for this period is the ‘faith period’.
THE FAITH PERIOD
This is perhaps the most difficult period. It is in this period that we can blow it or press through to it. What usually happens in this period? I believe that there are basically two things that can take place.
1. We can believe and hold on.
2. We can doubt.
It is during this period that we need to resist all unbelief and doubt and hang in, in faith. Doubt will come and that is why we must not allow it to overwhelm us. In this faith period we must keep on asking, seeking and knocking!
