He has undertaken to never leave us nor abandon us. He has undertaken to be the same, today, tomorrow and forever. His presence in our daily lives makes all the difference. If we know His presence with us, not challenge that life can bring our way needs to uproot us. His abiding presence was with Daniel in the lion’s den. His abiding presence was with the young men in the fiery furnace. His abiding presence was with the nation of Israel when the angel of death passed by. His abiding presence allow Peter to get out of the boat and walk on the water. Pursue His abiding presence in your life daily. Welcome His abiding presence and walk in it as you trust Him. Trust His abiding presence to lead you and to be the umpire in your life.
Colossians 3:15 Let the peace of Christ [the inner calm of one who walks daily with Him] be the controlling factor in your hearts [deciding and settling questions that arise]. (Amplified Bible)
Let us trust in His abiding presence more…
LET US REST IN HIM BECAUSE WE TRUST HIM MORE…
If we are not trusting Him then we do not have ‘an anchor for the soul’ and we can be ‘tossed about’ like a wave in the ocean. If we are not trusting Him we should look around in fear and dread and we will begin to sink, just like Peter did as he walked on the water and took his eyes off of Jesus. When we are trusting Him we can rest in Him. Then we can rest on His word. Then we can rest on His promises. Trusting leads to resting. When we decide to trust God and actively pursue a lifestyle of trusting a natural rest begins to happen. If we try to operate as ‘back seat drivers’ we will be anxious about everything. My late father was born in a certain town and then when he started in the ministry moved to another town about 1000 kilometres away. He often went home and grew to know the road extremely well. Years later when I began to drive and we would return home for the holidays, I would drive. My father would relax in the passenger’s seat and catch a bit of sleep. I would drive and he would appear to be asleep, but then I would hear him say, ‘be careful, the next corner is a sharp bend’. Even in his sleep he did not completely rest because he knew the road so well. Sometimes we think that we need to do that for God. We should stay alert to help Him with our advice and experience. Rest assured, He knows the road and we can trust in His capability!
