I believe that we can be ‘at home’ with the Lord during our earthly existence. I believe that we can know the Lord as a living reality during the ‘living years’. It is often said that ‘home is where the heart is’.
Matthew 6:19-21 (AMP) “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart [your wishes, your desires; that on which your life centers] will be also.
We should find our fulfillment in Him. The Bible speaks of the fact that the Lord is our Good Shepherd. When we know Him in this way, we can know what it means to be ‘at home with the Lord’ in this life. During our earthly existence we have the privilege and pleasure to know God in a particular way.
1 Corinthians 13:12 ‘Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.’
When we make peace with God while we don’t fully understand and grasp things, but simply trust Him for who He is, we can know what it means to be at home with God in this life.
