These must be some of the most comforting words in the entire Bible. My grace is sufficient for you! Other translations say the following:
My gracious favor is all you need!
My grace is all you need!
My grace is enough for you!
But what does this mean? I believe it is simple yet profound. I believe it means that God says: “I am standing with you in this situation. That’s really all we need to know.” Sufficient also means enough to meet the needs of a situation or a proposed end. The Greek word for sufficient means “to be content . . . to raise a barrier …… to ward off that which pushes us to one side.” I sometimes wish God had said that He would simply remove the situation. Perhaps you have had a similar situation that You wished God would just remove? God’s response was one of: ‘I know what you are facing and I am right here with you, providing you with just what you need at the moment you need it!’
