How does one then come to have faith for repentance?
The Bible teaches us that when we hear the Word of God; when it speaks to our hearts, a miracle takes place inside of us and faith is supernaturally released in us to be able to report and accept God’s offer of salvation.
Romans 10:14 “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher”
Romans 10:17 “So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God”.
James Phillips summarizes it so beautifully in his booklet on repentance. He says, “When the living truth of God touches a man’s life, the ‘impress’ it leaves upon him precisely this ability to obey from the heart the summons to repentance and in Christ”.
