OUR WONDERFUL FUTURE IN GOD
Introduction:
– It is a privilege to be alive and to be able to enjoy life.
– And yet, in life we face all sorts of problems that make things so difficult.
– One of the problems that we experience is our own weaknesses.
– Only the Holy Spirit can help us overcome our weaknesses.
– Then we can experience all that God has for us.
– God has a hope and a future in store for each of us.
1. WE ALL HAVE WEAKNESSES
– Romans 8:26 ‘Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses.’
– We all battle in some way or another.
– We face things that would seem to want to swallow us up.
– What are some of the weaknesses?
– Fear – fear of violence, crime, and death.
– Inferiority – self-consciousness, acceptance/rejection and approval.
– Bad habits – gambling, a temper.
– Spiritual weakness – a battle with prayer, or temptation.
– Despite this God has a plan and future.
– God uses the foolish things to confound the wise.
– So if you feel weak, welcome to the club.
– You are a prime candidate to be used by God.
2. THE HOLY SPIRIT COMES TO HELP US
– Romans 8:26 ‘The Spirit also helps in our weaknesses.’
– The Holy Spirit is waiting to help us.
– He compensates for our weaknesses.
– We don’t always accept His help or know how to accept His help.
– I believe that we can learn to receive His help increasingly.
– Praise God that the Holy Spirit can help us to overcome our weaknesses.
– We cannot do life without the help of the Holy Spirit.
– Without Him we are weak.
– He is the One Who comes alongside us to help us.
3. MANY OF US ARE WEAK IN THE AREA OF PRAYER
– Many people struggle with prayer.
– However, as we allow the Holy Spirit to control our lives, our prayers can be effective.
– Romans 8:26 ‘The Holy Spirit helps us with our daily problems and in our praying. For we don’t even know what we should pray for nor how to pray as we should, but the Holy Spirit prays for us with such feeling that it cannot be expressed in words.’
– This scripture indicates that we do not know how to pray, and we do not know what to pray.
– The Holy Spirit wants to help us, so that we will know what to pray for and how to pray for it.
– This will make our prayer life effective.
4. GOD HAS A PLAN FOR EACH ONE OF US
– God has a higher and a better plan for each of our lives.
– He orchestrates everything towards that plan.
– Romans 8:28 ‘And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.’
– This is something we can be sure of, something we can know and believe as a fact.
– As we allow the Holy Spirit to lead us, the results will follow.
– You have been called.
– You have a purpose.
– It happens when we yield ourselves to the Holy Spirit!
5. AS GOD CONTINUES HIS PROCESS IN US, THERE IS NO ONE WHO CAN EFFECTIVELY STAND AGAINST US
– Pursuing God is not always easy.
– People will endeavor to give us a hard time.
– Christians will even give other Christians a hard time.
– But God has a plan.
– He has something for each of us.
– If God is in that process – we are destined to win.
– Romans 8:31 ‘What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?’
– God wants us to succeed in the plan He has for us.
6. GOD WANTS TO MAKE WHAT WE NEED AVAILABLE TO US
– God has a purpose with each one of us.
– To fulfil His purpose in us HE (God) went as far as not sparing His Own Son.
– God is determined that we succeed.
– Just think about that for a moment.
– If God made His Own Son available in order that we would be able to achieve His purposes in us, what will He withhold from us?
– NOTHING!
– Romans 8:32 ‘He Who did not spare His Own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?’
– God wants to make everything available to us.
– If we need power – He wants to give it to us.
– If we need love – He wants to give it to us.
– If we need joy – He wants to give it to us.
– If we need fire – He wants to give it to us.
7. IN ALL THESE THINGS, WE ARE SURROUNDED BY THE LOVE OF GOD
– God wants us to know and experience His love.
– God wants us to know that His love is carrying us.
– We can feel secure in His love because we can never be separated from His love.
– God has a future for us in which His love will be a reality to us.
– God wants us to be more than conquerors.
– Romans 8:35 ‘Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?’
– V37 ‘Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him Who loved us.’
– V38 ‘For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come,’
– V39 ‘nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.’
– What a wonderful future we have in God!
