THE LORD WANTS TO BE A LIVING REALITY IN YOUR LIFE
Moses had this awesome moment when God passed by right in front of him and he could see some of the glory and wonder of the living God. In a world where there is so much negativity, wickedness and despair, the Lord wants to make Himself real to us so that we will see things from a different perspective.
THE LORD IS YOUR SAFE SPACE
There are times in our lives when we need the protection and the hand of God to be very present in our lives. In this verse we see how God takes Moses from the rock on which he was standing and places him in a cleft in the rock. A cleft in a rock represents a place where the rock has split or broken open so that there is a place you can go into where you can be protected and secure.
HE PLACES OUR FEET ON SOLID GROUND
There is a great old hymn with the following words: ‘On Christ the solid Rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.’ The solid Rock on which we can stand is Jesus Christ our Lord. The Lord gave Moses a position of security, a rock, on which he could stand secure. The Lord does not desire for us to be standing on sinking sand.
GOD WANTS US TO STAND IN HIM
I just love this phrase: ‘A place where you may stand…’ Years ago, I had the privilege of travelling to Italy. We were able to see some of the great church buildings and enjoy their splendor and magnificence. We came to one building where there was a long flight of wooden stairs going up from the entrance foyer. People were crawling up and down the stairs, praying, crying and pleading with God. They would often stop on a particular step and weep.
IN THE CLEFT OF THE ROCK
As the Lord began to speak to Moses He tells him, or reminds him, of a place where there was the possibility of knowing the closeness of God. It may have been a place where Moses had often gone to pray or speak with God – the scripture does not give us exact clarity on the location. Perhaps it was a place that Moses was familiar with.
GOD’S HAND INFLUENCES OUR LIVES & OUR CIRCUMSTANCES
Look at this link: God’s hand was on the people – they had a strong desire to follow the word of the Lord. If we will allow God’s hand to work in our lives, we too will have a desire to follow what God tells us to do. The hand of the Lord gives us favor.
THE HAND OF GOD IS AN OPEN HAND
Years ago there used to be a bank that had a catch phrase ‘YOUR HELPING HAND FOR LIFE!’ I am not sure which bank it was. The bank has gone but the truth of the phrase, as it applies to God, lives on. God’s hand is YOUR HELPING HAND FOR LIFE! God’s hand is open, it is not closed. If you see God’s hand as closed I hope that today you will change the way you think!
THE HAND OF GOD
I believe we all desire to know the ‘Hand of God’ in our lives. When we speak about THE HAND OF GOD we are speaking about two things.
1. His involvement in our lives.
2. His physical help and strength to see us through.
THE BLESSING IS CONDITIONAL
There is a conditional aspect to experiencing this blessing. It is the aspect of obedience. It will be worth it if we will choose a life of obedience. The rewards for obedience will be the blessings that God has in His word for us.

6. THE BLESSING OF VICTORY
God wants us to enjoy victory in our lives. Victory over things that would like to get us down or destroy us.
Deuteronomy 28:7 The LORD will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven.
What enemy is rising up against you? Think of the enemy of discouragement, frustration and despair. This can also include fear, stress, alcohol, drugs, pornography, greed/selfishness and many more.
