The Bible teaches that one tenth of our income (a tithe) should be given to God!
Malachi 3:10-11, quoted here from a book called “Paraphrased from 26  Translations”:
“Bring (as an act of your worship) the full amount of your tithe – the whole tenth of your income into the storehouse (local church) that there may be food in My house and PROVE ME NOW by it, go ahead and put me to the test, check Me out, test Me, give Me an opportunity to prove Myself and you will see that I will open the windows of heaven for you and pour out on you so much blessing that you will not have room enough to contain it. Then I will rebuke the devourer for you – I will protect the source of your income, I will stop the thief from destroying the fruit of your ground (fruit of your labours) and the vines in your field will not fail to bear fruit, says the Lord God Almighty”
Is the “storehouse” the local church?  In the Old Testament the storehouse was the spiritual leaders, the Levites [Numbers 18:21-32] and “the place which the Lord chose .. to put His name,” and that was the temple [Deuteronomy 12:5-6 and verse 11].
Today, the spiritual leaders serve and lead the people called the local church!
