Baptism is the first step of obedience that every Christian should take after repenting from their sins!

Acts 2:38 “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins…”

Baptism is a very decisive step in which we bury beneath the water our past lives, declaring them to be dead, and we are raised up out of the water to declare that we have risen to a new life of following and obeying the Lord. [Romans 6:4].
Baptism is one of the foundational doctrines [Hebrews 6:1-2] and it is important for each one of us to settle this matter in order that we may successfully do our basic training. It is amazing to see how the devil fights baptism, how much confusion he has caused about baptism and yet how clear the Bible teaching is about baptism

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT BAPTISM!

[1] We are commanded to be baptised. [Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38].

[2] Baptism follows repentance. [Acts 2:38].
[3] Baptism is only for believers. [Acts 8:36-37; Mark 16:16].
[4] When we are baptised we fulfill the righteous will of God.  [Matthew 3:13-17].
[5] Baptism is by immersion! [Acts 8:38-39].
[6] Baptism symbolises the burying of our old sinful life and the starting of our        newlife. [Romans 6:4]
[7] Baptism in the Holy Spirit is no substitute for believer’s baptism!  [Acts 10:47-48].
[8] There is a danger of following our own traditions and rejecting the will of         God.  [Mark 7:9; Luke 7:29-30].
[9] It was the practice of the early church. [Acts 2:41;  Acts 8:12-13; Acts 9:18; Acts 10:47-48;  Acts 16:14-15, Acts 16:33; Acts 18:8; Acts 19:1-7]
[10] God promises to bless all who obey His Word! [Acts 5:32].
[12] Baptism is something that should not be delayed! [Acts 22:16]
