Earthly things and the things we can see are temporary. They do not last forever. When the Queen dies, she cannot take that diamond with her. She has to leave it for her son. As Christians we have many things that are truly precious.
God has given us some very precious things. These precious things cannot be taken away or die. They cannot rot or rust or be stolen. But what are these precious treasures?
2 Corinthians 4:7 But this precious treasure – this light and power that now shine within us – is held in perishable containers. (in our weak bodies) So everyone can see that our glorious power is from God and is not our own.
The Amplified Bible says: ‘we possess this precious treasure’! Why is the Life of God in us precious?
1. Because something of the eternal is found in something that is temporary. We can experience the eternal life of God in our dying and weak bodies.
2. The life of God in us is a precious treasure because others can see it in us.
3. The Life of God in us is a precious treasure because it points people to God! People around us can know that there is something special about us.
