If you know the Holy Spirit in your life, you can know what it is to never be alone. No matter how isolated or on your own you may be, you can know the companionship of the Holy Spirit. The writer of Psalm 51 understood this.
Psalm 51:11 ‘Don’t toss me aside, banished forever from your presence. Don’t take your Holy Spirit from me.’
Once you have tasted of the friendship of the Holy Spirit, you will never want to live without Him. I love the idea that because I have the person of the Holy Spirit in my life, I will never be alone. You can know this as well.
The Holy Spirit wants to be our comforter. A comforter is one who gives comfort. To be a comforter is to give strength and to give hope. It can also mean to ease grief or trouble. Sooner or later we need this in our lives.
John 14:15-17 “If you love me, obey me; and I will ask the Father and he will give you another Comforter, and he will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, the Spirit who leads into all truth. The world at large cannot receive him, for it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.”
This comforter will never leave us.
