We are looking at the keys to success in life and especially the life that God has for us. This key may seem a little insignificant but it plays a vital role if we are ever to succeed. In a sense it underpins many of the more visible keys.
Just as an example; what would a good attitude be worth without the determination to see that our good attitude is not lost? As you will see in the next few posts, determination has many rewards and these rewards are the things that will push us closer to the place of victory and success that God wants us to know and enjoy.
When we are determined it brings finality. If we have determined that we will not sin, it greatly reduces the possibility of sinning. Determination is also a legal term that can mean to settle and end a controversy.
When we become determined it settles things so that we can deal with the consequences because the decision has already been made. There is a story in the Old Testament about a lady, Naomi and her daughter-in-law, Ruth. Naomi wanted to return to her own land and she wanted Ruth, who was from another land, to go back to her land. Ruth refused and was determined and so she went with Naomi.
Ruth 1:18 When Naomi saw that Ruth was determined to go with her, she said no more.
In the same way when those around you see that you are determined and that certain things are not negotiable they will leave you alone.
