There is hope. No matter what you are facing or what you are going through, there is hope. As long as you are alive and breathing there is hope. Things can change.
Ecclesiastes 9:4 Anyone who is among the living has hope. (NIV)
There is hope only for the living. (Living Bible)
But you may say to me that your life is not worth living or perhaps it is a living death, but I say that there is still hope. You may have written yourself off. You may even have given up. Perhaps you have resigned yourself to the current situation you are facing. It does not matter – there is still hope!
In the Bible we see how many of the great people God used got discouraged. The great King Solomon got discouraged. He was the wisest man that ever lived. He was the king and yet he got to a stage where he felt like it would be better to be dead.
Ecclesiastes 4:2 So I felt that the dead were better off than the living.
Even the Psalmist David got discouraged.
Psalm 142:3 For I am overwhelmed and desperate.
We do face discouragement in the course of life. Things do go wrong and things can turn out differently to what we had hoped. When we get discouraged we can know that we are in good company. BUT, we must not stay discouraged. We must fan the embers of hope until they are a roaring fire!
