This is an important question that we need to answer.
Isaiah 57:15 The high and lofty One who inhabits eternity, the Holy One, says this: I live in that high and holy place where those with contrite, humble spirits dwell; and I refresh the humble and give new courage to those with repentant hearts.
God is the one who is the source of courage. We all need courage in our daily lives. God is looking for those who are open, humble and dependent on Him. It is God who refreshes the humble and gives courage. But the courage goes to those who have repentant hearts. The courage goes to those who realize that they cannot do anything in their own strength. It has to be God’s strength.
You see, when we have courage and the ability or the capacity to face any danger or challenge, we can accomplish something. Courage gives us the ability to possess what God has for each one of us.
Acts 27:25 So take courage! For I believe God! It will be just as he said!
Haggai 2:4 But take courage, O Zerubbabel and Joshua and all the people; take courage and work, for I am with you, says the Lord Almighty.
Do you see the phrase ‘take courage and work.’ That is what courage does, it propels us into action. But it all starts, as we are dependent on God and on the precious Holy Spirit.
James 5:8 Yes, be patient. And take courage, for the coming of the Lord is near.
