John 14:27 “I am leaving you with a gift – peace of mind and heart! And the peace I give isn’t fragile like the peace the world gives. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” (Living Bible)
John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (NIV)
Peace of mind and spirit is a gift from God. God wants us to take, experience and enjoy this gift. So don’t let your heart be troubled, but let’s receive this gift that God offers.
Rest for our souls, is what God wants to give us. Rest from the striving and consuming raging on the inside.
Matthew 11:29-30 “Wear my yoke – for it fits perfectly – and let me teach you; for I am gentle and humble, and you shall find rest for your souls; for I give you only light burdens.”
I love this concept of ‘rest for your souls’. I believe we all need this important aspect.
Prayer: God, we need rest for our souls. We receive the gift of rest you have offered us today. Amen.
