A. Taking on a form of godliness – 2 Timothy 3:5 ‘having a form of godliness but denying its power!’
B. UNSTABLE – James 1:8 ‘A double minded man is unstable in all his ways!’ (Inconsistent) If you lead an inconsistent life, your heart is most likely divided.
C. CHANGEABILITY – One moment we are flying a flag for the gospel, the next moment we are flying a flag for something else. When I was a child I had rabbits. From time to time the rabbits would get out of their cage. They were difficult to catch, because as they ran they would change direction mid-stream. They would appear to be running towards the fence and then simply turn and run under the car! People with divided hearts run in one direction and then in another. Often they handle life in a reactionary way. They run hot and cold. They pick up one issue and then simply drop it and pick up another issue.
D. CASUALNESS – People with a divided heart often don’t take things seriously. Often everything can be a joke. They will apply one principle and casually drop it when it suits them. When it comes to the things of God, they are primarily sacred and should be handled as such!
E. OTHER SIGNS may include: restlessness, boredom, anger, depression, too much time on the internet, lack of joy and peace and even torment!
When our hearts are divided, we do not really respect God.
