Not only do we have to build on a sure foundation but we must also trust the foundation to carry us. When we build a wall upon a foundation, that wall relies fully on the foundation to hold it up and carry it. It does not try to carry itself or hold itself up. It relies fully on the foundation and rests completely on it.
This is exactly how we need to build our lives. We need to believe in, rely on and trust the sure foundation without looking at the prevailing circumstances and conditions.
Isaiah 28:16 Therefore thus says the Lord God, Behold, I am laying in Zion for a foundation, a Stone, a tested Stone, a precious Cornerstone of sure foundation; he who believes (trusts in, relies on, and adheres to that Stone) will not be ashamed or give way or hasten away [in sudden panic].
