Lamentations 3:25-26 The Lord is wonderfully good to those who wait for him, to those who seek for him. It is good both to hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.

Note firstly that it is good to hope (be expectant) and wait for God. Waiting is good thing. It may not feel like it and we humans like to make things happen and we often feel that waiting is a waste of time. But God sees things differently.  God wants to be wonderfully good to those who wait.  What a promise and what a reward.

Micah 7:7 As for me, I look to the Lord for his help; I wait for God to save me; he will hear me.

Here we see that those who wait have the guarantee that God will hear them.  Sometimes we think, while we are waiting, that God does not hear us. It is right here that we are wrong. God listens and hears those who are waiting.  It is for this reason that we can look to the Lord for help.
