The devil would like to keep our spirits imprisoned. He knows that while we are battling with bondage we will never be any better off than before we met Jesus. In this regard one of the greatest weapons that he uses is the weapon of sin. If he can get us hooked in sin that constantly hinders any progress with God, he will.
John 8:10-11 Then Jesus stood up again and said to her, “Where are your accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you?” “No, sir,” she said. And Jesus said, “Neither do I. Go and sin no more.”
As long as sin is given place in our lives it will limit, block and stop our progress with God. Go and sin no more.
When God forgives us it is total and the sin is removed from us.
Psalm 103:12 He has removed our sins as far away from us as the east is from the west.
God knows that sin is a terrible thing, the devil knows this as well and he walk around after us trying to constantly remind us of these issues. When God forgives it is total and we are declared ‘not guilty’. When God forgives a person, He trusts Him as though he had never sinned. The devil would like to keep us locked up in a cage of things that God has already dealt with. Let go of past sin, realize what God has actually done for you and go for God.
