When God created Adam and Eve and placed them in the Garden of Eden, His very first instruction to them was, “Be fruitful and multiply” [Genesis 1:28]. This was an instruction to reproduce – to bear children. God’s ultimate plan was to “fill the earth”. Ever since that first instruction the cycle of reproduction has gone on and now the earth is filled with billions of people. When Jesus spoke to His disciples, after His resurrection from the dead, and just before His ascension to heaven, His last instruction to them was, “Go … and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” [Matthew 28:19 -20]. This was an instruction to reproduce after their own kind – other people who would also be disciples of Jesus. This cycle of reproduction has gone on ever since and as a result there are billions of Christians worldwide today. Christianity has around 2.2 billion adherents of about 7 billion people. The faith represents one-third of the world’s population and is the largest religion in the world. Each of us, who are part of the family of God, have the privileged of being able to reproduce. So each one of us should use our influence to reach others and reproduce.

HIS PARTING WORDS WERE THAT WE SHOULD USE OUR INFLUENCE

Matthew 28:18-20 “Then Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, “teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

These verses say several important things:

1. Jesus has ultimate authority!
2. He has instructed us to influence others to become His disciples!
3. We are responsible to BAPTISE them and TEACH them to practise what He preached!
4. Jesus gave us His word that He will always be with us!

This is the last will and testimony of Jesus! We are destined for influence and all of us together are to reach the entire world! Use your influence and touch those around you, THEN together with Christians all around the world, this GREAT COMMISSION will be achieved.
