Fear is a powerful force. Everyone battles with it from time to time. I have heard people say that the greatest fear is fear itself, but what does the Bible say about fear? Does it give us any guidelines?
GOD DOES NOT WANT US TO FEAR
God does not desire for us to live in fear. In many places in the Bible we are encouraged to be strong and courageous! This must be because people battle with fear. Today I want to encourage you, not to fear.
Isaiah 35:3 – 4 ‘Strengthen the feeble hands, steady the knees that give way; say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, He will come with vengeance; with divine retribution He will come to save you.’
I love the phrase: ‘Say to those with fearful hearts – DO NOT FEAR.’ That is for you today!
FEAR COMES IN MANY FORMS
Fear is different for different people. Some people fear crime and violence. Others fear death. Other people fear financial failure or disaster. Still others fear rejection. Another fear is the loss of a loved one. For these people this fear is very real. Fear can paralyze us. The saying goes: ‘Paralyzed with fear’. But God does not want us to fear.
