d. A ROCK OF PROVISION

Exodus 17:6 ‘Strike the rock, and water will come out of it for the people to
drink!’

Deuteronomy 32:12 ‘He nourished them with honey from the rock and olive oil
from the stony ground.’

God is the source of every provision.

e. A ROCK OF OFFENSE

1 Peter 2:7-8 “THE STONE WHICH THE BUILDERS REJECTED, THIS BECAME THE VERY CORNER STONE,” and “A STONE OF STUMBLING AND A ROCK OF OFFENSE.”

But God is also a ‘rock of offense’ to some people. Sometimes people do not
want to hear the name of Jesus. It strikes something within them that offends
them. They would rather use His name as a swear word to try and overcome the
challenge and the offense it is to them. Sometimes it can be a ‘rock of
offense’ because we just can’t figure God out and perhaps we are disappointed
that God did not act in some situation. But we will never understand things
from God’s perspective.

f. A ROCK THAT IS A FOUNDATION FOR OUR LIVES  

Isaiah 28:26 So this is what the Sovereign Lord says: “See, I lay a stone
in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one
who relies on it will never be stricken with panic.”

We are all building something. We all build on some or other foundation.
Christ is the only foundation. We must build our lives and our futures on Him.

1 Corinthians 3:11-15 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one
already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using
gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, their work will be shown for
what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with
fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. If what has
been built survives, the builder will receive a reward.
