Acts 6:15 ‘All who were sitting in the Sanhedrin looked intently at Stephen, and they saw that his face was like the face of an angel.’
There was something completely different about Stephen. It seems as if he had a ‘divine radiance’. The scripture tells us that his face was like that of an angel and his accusers could not take their eyes off of him. It says that the people in the council noticed something different and they ‘fixed their eyes on him’, ‘they looked steadfastly at him’, ‘they looked intently at him’ and ‘they stared at him’. The council was angry but yet they were noticing something different about this man Stephen. The truth is that when we are full of the Holy Spirit something about us changes. It seems like his face was glowing in some way. It reminds us of Moses when he came down from the mountain and from being in the presence of God.
Exodus 34:29 ‘When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hand, he did not know that the skin of his face was shining [with a unique radiance] because he had been speaking with God.’
It is time we begin to see more of this strange and wonderful phenomenon. The key is the Holy Spirit Who makes the connection with God a reality.
AN OPEN HEAVEN
Acts 7:55-56 But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. “Look,” he said, “I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.”
Here we see how Stephen sees ‘heaven open’. He has a revelation of heaven. An open heaven represents a direct connection between heaven and earth. The bottom line is that in these unique moments God becomes more real. We all desire that God would be more real. It all starts as we are full of the Holy Spirit. Let us pursue His Holy Spirit in our daily lives. Let us hunger and thirst for more of His Holy Spirit.
