CONNECTED TO THE VINE
But how is this possible? How can we be fruitful Christians? It starts with a vital, living connection to the vine. Jesus tells us that He is the vine and we need to be connected to Him. This is the only way in which we can produce fruit.
John 15:4 Take care to live in me, and let me live in you. For a branch can’t produce fruit when severed from the vine. Nor can you be fruitful apart from me.
Apart from God we cannot be fruitful. We need that vital flow from God to us to make us fruitful.
BEING FRUITFUL AS WE CARE FOR OTHERS
Here is another way in which we can be fruitful. It is as we love and show kindness to others that our lives can become fruitful.
Titus 3:14 For our people must learn to help all who need their assistance, that their lives will be fruitful.
A vine produces fruit, but the fruit is not for itself, it is for others. The purpose of our fruitfulness is to be a blessing to others. God wants us to fruitful in this way.
