FAITH IN MAN
We call this humanism.

Jeremiah 17:5 This is what the Lord says: ‘Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away form the Lord.’

This kind of faith has taken the world by storm.  Humanity becomes its own god and it thinks it is the solution to every issue and problem.
6. FAITH IN REASON
We call this rationalism.

Proverbs 3:5 ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding…’

Our own understanding or the understanding within the human race, is not something that can be depended on and it is not something we can put our faith in.  The Bible makes it very clear: ‘lean not on your own understanding.’ The Bible also makes it very clear what we should do: ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart…’   That is where our faith should actually rest.
