God’s help in repentance

Daily Thought

Your Word for 14 November 2024

Psalm 114:8
‘HE turned the rock into a pool of water; yes, a spring of water flowed from solid rock.’

In Acts 5:31 the apostle Peter says,

“Him (Jesus) hath God exalted with His right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for TO GIVE REPENTANCE…and forgiveness of sins”.

In other words , Jesus gives to us the gift of repentance.  Humanly speaking we are incapable of repenting.  Repentance is a gift that we need to take WHEN it is offered!  So, it’s not something that we can fleetingly do the moment before our death.  No it’s something in which we need to co-operate with God when He calls us to repentance.
Acts 11:18 has the same message.

“When they heard these things they…glorified God, saying, then hath God also to the Gentiles GRANTED REPENTANCE UNTO LIFE”.  Either God gives it to us or we don’t have it!  When He gives it don’t miss it, TAKE IT!

Hebrews 4:7 says,

“Today if you will hear His voice harden not your hearts.”
