DAVID AS AN EXAMPLE
David had a heart after God. He longed for God and desired God. Yet he was under great problems and great threat for most of his life. But this did not stop him in his pursuit of God. Listen to what he wrote:
Psalm 42:1-2 As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
Psalm 63:8 My soul follows hard after thee: thy right hand upholds me.
He speaks my language.
MOSES AS AN EXAMPLE
Moses was also a person who had a longing for God.
Exodus 20:18 Now all the people witnessed the thunderings, the lighting flashes, the sound of a trumpet, and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled and stood afar off. v21 So the people stood afar off, but Moses drew near the thick darkness where God was.
Moses was drawn to the presence of God. Later we see how Moses was the one who wanted to see God’s glory. He asked to see. Exodus 33:18–23
God agrees to show Moses His glory. What a moment, yet, Moses was not the ideal candidate. He has a murderer – with a criminal record. Hewas disabled – He stuttered. He had a character flaw – He was a coward. Yet he was drawn to God and God showed Himself to Moses.
