This might be a difficult concept. Perhaps of all the words you would use to describe your trials and tests, you would not choose the word ‘PRECIOUS’.
1 Peter 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.
When we think of the trials we face, we may consider them as difficult and unpleasant experiences. But here the Apostle Peter tells us that our trials are precious. He compares them to the earthly treasure of gold and says that they are more precious than gold. The trials we face are usually not enjoyable and perhaps we wish that we never needed to face them. Why are our trials precious?
1. After the trials, we usually know the Lord better.
2. Trials have a refining process in our lives.
3. Trials make us stronger than we were before.
4. Trials leave us changed (different).
5. Often times we are defined by our trials. EG: Nelson Mandela.
