This is the challenging part for most of us. Remember the example of the 2 chairs? Imagine for a moment a large room. At one side of the room is a chair that you are seated on. On the other side of the room is another chair that you need to get to. Now while holding onto your chair stretch as far as you can and try to reach the other chair. It can never be done. You must leave the security of the current or the past in your pursuit of the next or the future thing.
The Bible speaks about forgetting the former things. It is a time to get rid of the unnecessary and things that would get in the way. It is a time to deal with things so that nothing will stop your progress.
Here are 2 examples: Bad relationships. (Bad company corrupts good character.) Dealing with unresolved issues. In the book of Ecclesiastes it speaks of certain positives and negatives regarding time. Let us look for a moment at the negative aspects.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 There is a right time for everything: A time to die; A time to kill; A time to destroy; A time to cry; A time to grieve; A time for scattering stones; A time not to hug; A time to lose; A time for throwing away; A time to tear; A time to be quiet; A time for hating; A time for war.
Many people only face the positive aspects, but there is more. Sometimes we have to deal with things so that we can move on and step into what God has got for us.
