Internal causes of bondage

Daily Thought

Your Word for 15 November 2024

Genesis 18:13-14
The LORD said to Abraham, ‘Why did Sarah laugh? Is anything too hard for the LORD?’

from bondage to freedomOur flesh includes our sinful and lower natures.
The flesh speaks of every aspect of our bodies.
We were originally created perfectly in God’s image.
Then sin came into the world and into our lives.
Within our own bodies there is a battle that rages. It is a battle between the Spirit and the flesh. When Adam and Eve sinned their very natures became corrupted. This was passed down to the rest of humanity. So in our flesh or our lower natures there is a propensity to what is not right and good and this leads to bondage in our lives.
We may battle within ourselves with acceptance and rejection and this leads us to do things that bring us into bondage.  Within yourself you may be unhappy and you turn to food for comfort and end up in bondage.
