God desires that our desires would be right desires. God wants to come and do a work of renewal, by placing within us a right spirit. Renewal starts on the inside.
Psalm 51:10 renew a right spirit within me.
For this to happen God needs to do a creative miracle within our hearts. We need new hearts to be able to have new spirits.
Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
And that is exactly what God wants to do.
Ezekiel 36:26-27 And I will give you a new heart—I will give you new and right desires—and put a new spirit within you. I will take out your stony hearts of sin and give you new hearts of love. And I will put my Spirit within you so that you will obey my laws and do whatever I command.
