Looking back can be a very dangerous thing to do. As we face new challenges and changes on the road of life there is a trap that we could fall into. It is the trap of longing for and living in the past.
The past is a funny thing. We just remember the best of the past and as a result the past looks like it was ‘the good old days’. We must avoid this trap. God wants us to move forward and not live in the past.
Isaiah 43:18-19 “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.
It is when we look back and start longing for something that is over, that we become hindered in being able to experience the new that God has for us.
