Our desires are the things we long for, the things that we want.  It is the things we have asked God for.  The Greek word for desire means request and petition.  A petition is a formal request handed to an authority.
When we are sold out for God and living in His will He wants to grant our hearts requests, desires and petitions.  What are your hearts desires today?   What should our desires be?  And what can we ask from God?

Proverbs 11:23 The desire of the righteous is only good.

If we live a life in which we are delighted with God we will know His will.  We will desire what is good.

1 John 5:14-15 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.

We should desire what is good and ask for what is in line with His will.
