Sometimes it is hard for us to understand that there are those who would ask Him to leave. For whatever reason they don’t want Him in their lives.
In this story (Luke 8:22-40), Jesus goes to Gadara. When He arrives there He is not welcomed. Wherever Jesus went in those days crowds followed and no sooner would He arrive at a place that crowds would begin to gather. But here in Gadara, only one demon possessed man arrives to meet Him.
In one of the most unusual demonstrations Jesus heals and delivers him. It goes to show that those who come to Him, He will touch, heal and deliver. This unusual healing of a demon possessed man brought the town out to see Jesus.
Luke 8:37 And all the people in the region of the Gerasenes begged Jesus to go away and leave them alone, for a great wave of fear swept over them. So Jesus returned to the boat and left, crossing back to the other side of the lake.
The miracle that He had done had drawn all the people out to Him. But it was an inhospitable situation. God does not force Himself on anyone. His response was to leave. If we reject God, He will honour our request. So Jesus returned to the boat and left ….
