He wants to lift you up. Out of the hole that you may find yourself. He wants to set you free from the things that have a hold on you and limit your progress. He wants to put you on a secure path. He wants to walk with you and steady you along as you go.
When God helps us, He wants to see the process through. So that we can be free from those things that would hold us and not simply slip back into them.
Psalm 40:1-2 I waited patiently for God to help me; then he listened and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out from the bog and the mire, and set my feet on a hard, firm path, and steadied me as I walked along.
