The qualities of love need to be applied to our lives. Some if these qualities may be natural qualities that flow automatically out of our lives. But some of the qualities may be ‘unnatural’ to us as individuals and we have to do 2 things:
- Make a quality decision that it will be the way we operate.
- Work on those aspects.
If we will apply these qualities to our lives, then we can have success on all our relationships. Without these qualities in our lives, we are bankrupt.
Here is how The Message Translation of the Bible puts 1 Corinthians 13:
I’m bankrupt without love.
Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
Love doesn’t strut.
Love doesn’t have a swelled head.
Love doesn’t force itself on others.
Love isn’t always ‘me first’.
Love doesn’t fly off the handle.
Love doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
Love doesn’t revel when others grovel.
Love takes pleasure on truth.
Love puts up with anything.
Love trusts God always.
Love always looks for the best.
Love never looks back.
Love keeps going to the end.
Love never dies.
