Psalm 118:6 The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?
Psalm 56:4 I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me?
‘What man can do to you’ can include almost anything that human beings can do to one another. I have seen the fear of crime cause people to become anti-social. I have seen the fear of abuse cause people to live in intolerable situations and circumstances. The issue is what does God tell us? This is very clear; we should not fear what man can do to us!
I have found that fear can spread like a wild fire. It takes just one person to experience something and fear can penetrate entire communities. We can get to the point where we fear whatever is going around. Fear is contagious. Others instill their fears in us and we then instill our adopted fear in those around us. What is the relevant fear in your sphere of influence? When everybody fears what every body else fears, we have a condition known as panic. This is not what God has for us! We need to get to that point where we do not fear what others may be fearing.
