We know that our purpose in life is to bring glory to God. We know that to bring glory to God is to make His name great. But how do we do it?
TO GLORIFY GOD IS TO SHOW APPRECIATION.
To show appreciation for all God has done and for all that He is going to do, for in and through each of us.
2 Corinthians 2:14 ‘But thanks be to God who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ.’
To appreciate means to value or admire highly, to recognize with gratitude, hold in high estimation and to safeguard something considered precious. We can show our appreciation, and in this way bring glory to God.
TO ADORE THE LORD IS TO GLORIFY HIM.
As soon as we worship something we glorify it. To adore means to worship or honor
1 Chronicles 16:29 ‘Ascribe the Lord the glory that is due His name … Worship the Lord in the splendor of His holiness.’
This is where real worship comes in. God longs to be glorified through our worship. As you worship God while living your life, you are fulfilling your primary purpose of bringing glory to God.
TO LOVE GOD IS TO GLORIFY HIM.
As we love God, we are bringing glory to Him. When we show our love and affection for Him by walking in time with Him and by obeying what He says, we are bringing Him glory. ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.’ Loving God is on going and perpetual. It just gets deeper and deeper. You want to glorify God – Love Him all the more.
AS WE GIVE OURSELVES TO GOD WE GLORIFY HIM.
This is where the aspect of yielding and submission comes in. As we yield and submit to God, it brings Him glory. This means that we will need to be ready to obey. Not holding on to our own agendas and good ideas, BUT wanting what God wants and doing what God desires. Another word that comes to mind is the word SURRENDERED. We need to be surrendered to God.
