The story of Peter

Daily Thought

Your Word for 24 May 2024

Isaiah 49:16
‘See, I have engraved you on the palms of My hands…’

Peter was just a fisherman. He had been fishing for years and it was all he knew. His life was consumed with boats, nets and fishing. Then in one moment of time Jesus came into the picture. Everything changed. Do you think he ever thought that he could become one of the disciples of the Son of God – The Messiah? Do you think he ever thought that he would be one of a small group of men who would go on to change the world? Do you think he ever thought that one day he would preach to thousands and bring thousands to repentance and the knowledge of Jesus Christ as Saviour? No, he had no way of knowing. He became more than he thought he could be.
I believe God wants to step into the lives of those who are open to Him so that He can cause them to become more than they thought they could be.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Isaiah 64:4 For since the world began, no ear has heard, and no eye has seen a God like you, who works for those who wait for him!

With God in the equation of our lives it is possible.  Moses was disabled (he stuttered), a coward and a criminal.  Rahab was a prostitute.  David was weak in many areas.  Noah drank too much.  Peter denied Christ three times.  Abraham had to wait many years and he was old.  Yet they all became more than they thought they could be.
