Times of change can be really stressful times. They can be times of doubt and insecurity. It is as we face these kinds of feelings that we need to stay focused.
Hebrews 12:1-2 let us run with patience the particular race that God has set before us. Keep your eyes on Jesus, our leader and instructor.
There is a particular race for each one of us to run. Each race has its own challenges to deal with. As we keep our eyes of Jesus and stay focused, we will be able to face whatever comes our way!
Looking back can be a very dangerous thing to do. As we face new challenges and changes on the road of life there is a trap that we could fall into. It is the trap of longing for and living in the past. The past is a funny thing. We just remember the best of the past and as a result the past looks like it was ‘the good old days’.
We must avoid this trap. God wants us to move forward and not live in the past.
Isaiah 43:18-19 “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.
It is when we look back and start longing for something that is over, that we become hindered in being able to experience the new that God has for us.
