After listing the BE-BLESSED ATTITUDES Jesus presents the first of about twenty kingdom principles: The Principle of INFLUENCE!

Matthew 5:13-16  “You are the SALT of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavour, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men.  “You are the LIGHT of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.   “Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
If we live with the right kind of ATTITUDES we will become SALT and LIGHT for the Lord.
SALT PRESERVES! When our attitudes are right we preserve the moral and ethical standards of our society. When we loose it, in terms of attitude, then we are no longer salt even if we stand up for what is right in an ugly and condemning way.
SALT FLAVOURS! Life without God, and life not based on godly principles, is both futile and frustrating. It ends in mutual self-destruction. But as soon as Christian principles and standards are adhered to, life becomes safe, pure, beautiful and desirable. We are called by God to add authentic spice to life!
LIGHT BRINGS VISION AND DIRECTION! People who live without God are without direction and vision, and live carelessly. When we meet with the Lord, life takes on a whole new meaning. Our destiny is settled, our values changed and living for Christ gives vision beyond the grave.
The born-again, Spirit-filled and controlled Church is destined to make an incredible impact on our nation and society!
Let’s determine to do what Jesus said we should do in verse 16,

Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
