On the day of Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit was poured out [Acts 2:1-18], the impact on the crowd who saw what happened was incredible. After Peter had preached his inspired sermon, this is what took place:
Acts 2:37-38 “Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, WHAT SHALL WE DO?” Then Peter said to them…
PETER GIVES THEM A FOURFOLD INSTRUCTION:
[1] “Repent, and let every one of you
[2] be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall
[3] receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 2:39-40 “For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.” And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying:
[4] “Be saved from this perverse generation.”
NOTICE THEIR RESPONSE! – THEY GLADLY OBEYED THE WORD!
Acts 2:41 “Then those who
[1] gladly received his word
[2] were baptized; and that day about 3,000 souls were added to them.
[3] Acts 2:42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine
[4] and fellowship,
[5] in the breaking of bread,
[6] and in prayers.”
