There are many different sins that bring God’s curse on us!
- ‘Cursed is the one who makes any carved or molded image,
- ‘Cursed is the one who treats his father or his mother with contempt.
- ‘Cursed is the one who moves his neighbour’s landmark.’
- ‘Cursed is the one who makes the blind to wander off the road.’
- ‘Cursed is the one who perverts the justice due the stranger, the fatherless, and widow.’
- ‘Cursed is the one who lies with his father’s wife,
- ‘Cursed is the one who lies with any kind of animal.’
- ‘Cursed is the one who lies with his sister,
- ‘Cursed is the one who lies with his mother-in-law.’
- ‘Cursed is the one who attacks his neighbour secretly.’
- ‘Cursed is the one who takes a bribe to slay an innocent person.’
- ‘Cursed is the one who does not confirm all the words of this law.’
There are many results of living under a curse. Let us look at two:
[1] No prosperity!
Deuteronomy 28:29 And you shall grope at noonday, as a blind man gropes in darkness; you shall not prosper in your ways; you shall be only oppressed and plundered continually, and no one shall save you.
[2] Sickness that cannot be healed by medical means!
Deuteronomy 28:27 The Lord will strike you with the boils of Egypt, with tumors, with the scab, and with the itch, from which you cannot be healed.
Deuteronomy 28:35 The Lord will strike you in the knees and on the legs with severe boils which cannot be healed, and from the sole of your foot to the top of your head.
Deuteronomy 28:58-61 “If you do not carefully observe all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and awesome name, THE LORD YOUR GOD, then the Lord will bring upon you and your descendants extraordinary plagues—great and prolonged plagues—and serious and prolonged sicknesses. Moreover He will bring back on you all the diseases of Egypt, of which you were afraid, and they shall cling to you. Also every sickness and every plague, which is not written in this Book of the Law, will the Lordbring upon you until you are destroyed.
Through the death of Jesus we can be set free from the curses of the law and experience God’s blessings!
Galatians 3:13-14 “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), That the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”
A major part of the ministry of Jesus was the ministry of deliverance.
Acts 10:38 “how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.”
This ministry He has delegated to us, His followers!
Matthew 10:1,7-8 “And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease. “And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.”
When we turn to the Lord for help He gets rid of our bondage and blesses us!
Hosea 11:4 “I drew them with gentle cords, with bands of love, and I was to them as those who take the yoke from their neck. I stooped and fed them.”
Isaiah 61:9 “Their descendants shall be known among the Gentiles, and their offspring among the people. All who see them shall acknowledge them, that they are the posterity whom THE LORD HAS BLESSED.”
It’s time to PUT OFF what belongs to our old life and to PUT ON all the Jesus has for us!
Ephesians 4:22-24 “That you PUT OFF, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, And be renewed in the spirit of your mind, And that you PUT ON the new man which was created according to God, in righteousness and true holiness.”
