Inner healing from past hurts

Daily Thought

Your Word for 26 July 2024

Psalm 143:10
‘Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God. May Your gracious Spirit lead me forward on a firm footing.’

The brain has one billion cubicles for storage information and memories. People who are mentally healthy bury unpleasant experiences, but as they go through life they keep on reacting to certain situations, not realizing why. However, back in the mind lies a memory that is distasteful which brings the reaction. We all have reasons for reacting the way we do. These hidden reasons for our reactions need to be identified and dealt with and then healing will flow and a normal life will ensue.

Any provision that Jesus made for us in the atonement must be appropriated by faith.
Jesus died for the SINS of the world; yet each person must individually appropriate that forgiveness by faith or they cannot be saved.
Jesus also bore our SICKNESSES, for by His stripes we were healed. Yet, we must appropriate this healing by faith in order to be healed.
In the same way, He Himself bore our GRIEFS and carried our SORROWS, and herein lies God’s provision to receive inner healing BY FAITH.

Isaiah 53:4 “Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.”

This means that our underlying problems [grief and sorrows] need to be identified, and reckoned as transferred on to the Lord, Who bore them for us.
This can only take place as we open up to the “discerning of spirits”, [1 Corinthians 12:8] as this gift of the Spirit works through us or through someone who is praying for us or counselling with us. This obviously necessitates a time or times of ministry and waiting on the Lord. Some have experienced such a healing as they have experienced the joy of the Lord or have experienced the power of the Holy Spirit. In such cases the healing has taken place without the counsel of others.
When such ministry takes place in the heart, spirit and mind of a person, there is always a wonderful release. Isaiah 63:3 explains what happens:

“To console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.”

If you are experiencing reactions that don’t seem to be right, then you need ministry.    Ask your pastor or church leaders to pray with you, waiting on the Lord as they do and God will flow healing into your spirit and body.
