Blood-line/generational curses

Daily Thought

Your Word for 26 July 2024

Psalm 143:10
‘Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God. May Your gracious Spirit lead me forward on a firm footing.’

A curse that comes down from generation to generation we call a blood-line curse!
These curses manifest themselves in many ways. For example, if a father is an alcoholic, or a crooked business man, or an immoral man, his son often turns out to the the same type of man, although he has vowed that he will never become like his dad. The curse seems to be handed down.
A curse may be manifest in our physical bodies by way of an hereditary illness. This occurs sometimes but not always.
Some hereditary diseases are not the result of a curse!!
Let me give you some more examples of a blood-line curse. You may have been born  into a home in which your mother was dominating and manipulative. As a result divine order in your home did not exist, and the peace of God wasn’t present there. You presumed that that was the way it should be and now you are trying the same manipulative tricks on your boyfriend or on you husband. The power of this curse in your life needs to be broken, before you send it down the line to your children.
Those who come to the Lord from a life of sin are often filled with brokenness,     emotional scars, hurts and rejection. They are bound and imprisoned by many thought patterns and habits. Many are numbed, badly crushed and mentally confused. When they come to the Lord, their sin of rejecting Him is forgiven. However, there are many areas in their lives that have been destroyed by sin that need restoration and transformation by the Word and the Spirit of the Lord!
The good news is that these blood-line curses can be broken!
In Isaiah 61:1-4 we read the following:

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the LORD has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;  To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn, To console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.”   And they shall rebuild the old ruins, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the ruined cities, the desolations of many generations.”

Compare this with Luke 4:18-19.
1. Healing of the HURTS of the past [Memories].
“Binding up the broken hearted, setting at liberty those who are bound (bruised)”
2. Deliverance from BONDAGES that still hold us captive.
“Proclaiming deliverance to the captives, the opening of prison to those who are       bound”
3. Renouncing and breaking of CURSES which are passed down from generation to      generation.
“Raising up the former devastations, repairing the desolations of many generations”.
