WATCH WHAT YOU SAY

Psalm 34:13 Then watch your tongue! Keep your lips from lying.
Our tongues are very powerful.
We need to be careful about what we say.
James 3:3-5 We can make a large horse turn around and go wherever we want by means of a small bit in his mouth. 4And a tiny rudder makes a huge ship turn wherever the pilot wants it to go, even though the winds are strong. So also the tongue is a small thing, but what enormous damage it can do. A great forest can be set on fire by one tiny spark.
Matthew 12:36 And I tell you this, that you must give account on Judgment Day for every idle word you speak.
James 1:19 Dear brothers, don’t ever forget that it is best to listen much, speak little, and not become angry.
The second key to a good, long life, is watching what we say.

TURNING OUR BACKS ON EVIL AND DOING GOOD

Psalm 34:14 Turn from all known sin and spend your time in doing good.
The first thing here is to turn away from evil.
This is a deliberate action.
Turning away from evil thoughts, speech, acts and attitudes.
And then to do good.
Spend your time doing good.
This is where the Holy Spirit comes in.
He wants to empower us to do good.
This should be our way of life.
The way we spend our time.
