This is the most famous prayer… you probably know it by heart:
Luke 11:2 Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.”
- Remember we are praying to our Father: “Our Father in heaven….”
- He must always be highly respected: “Hallowed be Your name.”
- His kingdom must be a priority to us: “Your kingdom come.”
- We must always do His will: “Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
- He is our source: “Give us day by day our daily bread.”
- He is the one who forgives us: “And forgive us our sins.”
- We need to forgive others: “for we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us.”
- God can keep us away from temptation: “And do not lead us into temptation.”
- He can give us victory over the evil one – Satan: “deliver us from the evil one”
