God offers us the gift of salvation. This is where it all starts. If we want to know the saving power of God and the eternal life He offers, it starts as we give our lives to Him.
Acts 4:12 There is salvation in no one else! Under all heaven there is no other name for men to call upon to save them.
We cannot earn salvation, we can only receive it.
Romans 3:27-28 Then what can we boast about doing to earn our salvation? Nothing at all. Why? Because our acquittal is not based on our good deeds; it is based on what Christ has done and our faith in him. So it is that we are saved by faith in Christ and not by the good things we do.
The possibility of salvation is within easy reach.
Romans 10:8 For salvation that comes from trusting Christ—which is what we preach—is already within easy reach of each of us; in fact, it is as near as our own hearts and mouths.
Simply ask God to come and live within you. Give Him your heart and ask Him to forgive you for all that you have done. As we do this there comes a point of turning in our hearts and God can make His salvation available to you and me.
