God offers freedom and liberty. The Christian life is not a life of bondage and drudgery. It is a life that includes a real freedom that can only come from God. It can all start when Jesus sets us free.
John 8:36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
God is offering liberty to those who are in bondage.
Isaiah 61:1-2 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the suffering and afflicted. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted, to announce liberty to captives, and to open the eyes of the blind. 2He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of God’s favor to them has come.
The key to this liberty is the Holy Spirit.
2 Corinthians 3:17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
